Highland Hideaway

My wife and I went here for our honeymoon. The location is ideal and I found it to be peaceful and quiet even though it was close to the main road. Lots of options within walking distance and a very picturesque location. We wish we could have done more activities in the backyard and the area but, my wife was sick throughout the honeymoon. We made the best of it, though, and greatly enjoyed the cabin and location. A fantastic deal!

Great place to stay if you’re bringing your dogs along, the back yard is great for them to run and play. The grill is nice and very easy to use. A lot of near by walkable locations, the village is really close by also a really awesome hiking trail. The cabin is small but nice for a couple with dogs looking for a cozy getaway. Definitely have to come back next year.

This is my second time at the cabin. It is perfect for the pups and a few days getaway. It was clean,and the right size for two. My only complaint is that the door was hard to open and the DVD player did not work, but I notified the management. The level of communication was terrific. I would definitely stay here again.

I spent a weekend in on of their cabins and it was nice and cozy. It was clean and in a great location. They made it easy to check in and out. The only problem was when you are taking out your trash you have to go to the actual landfill to throw it out. Not a good experience to end a great weekend

Great service. I loved the place I stayed at. However the mattress on the bed is WAY too soft. It was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on, and because of that one reason I probably wouldn’t stay at that cabin again.

Was a perfect little getaway. Both of our dogs loved it. It had a huge gated backyard which was a plus. Great location!

2nd time using big bear cool cabins and yet again another great dog friendly home! Were a pack of 2 adults and 3 dogs(small,medium and large) so preferably a big bed and fenced in yard is ideal.This cabin has more of a studio feel to it as in the beds basically in the kitchen but we liked the open design hence why we picked the cabin in the first place! We will be returning to try yet again another location soon and possibly even this one.Thank you for all the help as well as easy and fast check ins/check outs.

The cabin had everything we needed & our 2 little dogs loved the huge fenced yard.

Massive fences in yard. Our Husky loved the snow banks. Kind of an amazing aspect to the property in this location.

My partner and I loved this cabin. We booked it for the big back yard as we wanted to bring our rescue dog to experience snow for the first time and it was perfect! The yard is huge and we had so much fun running around with our dog. The cabin is small but great for a weekend stay, and the fireplace is wonderful. Can't wait to come back in the summer!

This was my first solo trip and I took my dog with me. The cabin was absolutely perfect for a short getaway. It was clean, safe, and my dog absolutely loved the fenced backyard which was a nice peace of mind for me as well. Would come back for sure!

The Highland Hideaway was great! It is a cozy, studio-style cabin with everything you need for a weekend in Big Bear. Our dog loved playing in the snow in the fenced yard. Big Bear Cool Cabins was very helpful and communicative. They even drove by and plowed the snow in front of our driveway after we got 11 inches of snow!

I came to the mountains to have some me time after my wife passed away a few months ago! I wanted to see the Forest and the lake and the trees and I needed a place to stay while I have this experience! Cool Cabins catered to my needs! I will definitely use them again! We truly enjoyed our weekend away. It was very relaxing and fun for us and our pup. The huge backyard was a plus for him to enjoy, as well as close walk to hikes.

This was the perfect little cabin for my girlfriend and two dogs. It is super close to everything in town and quiet. The yard was fantastic for our two dogs to explore and play.

This is a great little cabin for 2 if you have a dog! New items have recently been added to the cabin since our last stay in June. We will definitely be back!

This was a great little place. The fenced backyard was huge and allowed my furbaby to roam safely. It was clean and close to restaurants and down town shopping. Would definitely return for a stay.

Stayed two nights in a nice little cabin with a fenced backyard. Was close to many places to eat and the lake if you were boating.

We were looking for a space to getaway with our dog. We saw the yard and the reviews and thought okay this would work. It is centrally located and easy to get to. Everything is close as it's not a big area to begin with. This was our first stay in the Big Bear area. All in all it was a real nice stay of 3 nights. We will be back to the area. If you like to hike, fish or just breathe in fresh air, we would highly recommend the area.

I love the privacy of the gated backyard and the coziness of the cabin.

I have no complaints! Check in was simple, check out was simple. House had everything I needed. I was in Big Bear for work, and I lived in Big Bear for over 11 years. I have a different perspective than other visitors. Cool Cabins runs an excellent operation. I know the city mandates limit what they do, and they handled it perfectly. Everything was clear of what I can and cannot do. It's simple folks, respect the neighborhood where you're laying down your head!

Had a blast here. Fun house. Just enough of everything we needed to cook and feel at home!

We enjoyed our stay here at the cabin! Based on some of the reviews, we did not have high expectations, but were excited to get away. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised and loved the place! It was super clean and quaint, with everything you needed for a weekend getaway. We like to cook at home and brought stuff to grill and make, and we were well supplied with everything we needed. The check in process was super easy, with quick responses when we had to notify them of us arriving later than expected. Our pup loved the weekend getaway and backyard!!! So much room to run around and play fetch. WiFi also worked great when we needed to get some work done. Thanks, cool cabins!

We went to big bear for a small family get away with our Siberian husky, looking for a cabin with plenty of space was essential. When we came across this place we saw the backyard and we knew we had to get it for our husky! The backyard was huge, needless to say. On top of that, the cabin was really clean nice and everything needed for a successful stay was provided, would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will plan to be back again!

We had the best time at Highland Hideaway. It was just the right size for the 3 of us and our pups. The bed was super comfy, the pullout couch was as well. The heater worked great, the water in the cute shower was super hot and plenty of towels available for all. The backyard is HUGE and securely fenced in for the dogs. Would highly recommend this adorable little cabin. Oh and also I loved the cabin like decor to it. :)

This is a great location, close to the village but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. Nice neighbors, great back yard space if you have pets or kids. Studio, so be ware its not huge but perfect for a couple or smaller group.

Perfect cute little quaint cabin!

Loved this little place. Stayed there over SuperBowl weekend and just loved it. The back yard is very large and has high fence perfect for our Belgian Malinois to play in. We had snow that weekend and we even did a little snow play with a saucer. Would of given it 5 stars if is wasn't for the bathroom or more specifically the shower. My husband is 6'3 and I am 5"10 the ceiling is very low over the bathtub - had to sit to shower. Other than that it was perfect. Will definitely stay there again.

I absolutely loved this cabin, and the huge backyard. It was within .4 miles of a great hiking trail, in a mild to the village where there is all the food and drinks

The cabin is adorable and perfect for 2 people and a dog. The yard is huge and fenced in. However the bed in this cabin is absolutely awful. The mattress is unbelievably hard and leans hard to the right.

The best perk of this cabin (for hikers) is that it's half a mile from the San Bernardino National Forest and the Pine Knot Trail. It's about a mile from Big Bear Village, but it was too hot to walk there.The "full kitchen" has a coffeemaker and coffee, but no sugar or creamer. There is also a toaster, microwave, a few pots/pans, and dishes. Since we stayed a week, we had planned to do some cooking; but the kitchen work space is too limited for major meal prep. It was a very warm week, and only two of the six windows opened. There's no air conditioning; so the cabin heated up during the day, and it was difficult to bring in the cool night air. Kudos to the johnny-on-the-spot maintenance man, who delivered a box fan and discovered the windows had been painted shut. He quickly remedied that, and the rest of the week was much better! We should have reported the problem right away.The cabin decor is rustic, and adds a nice ambience. The bed has plenty of blankets and a heavy comforter for fall/winter visitors, but the mattress is downright hard. The spacious backyard was a joy for the dogs to run and play, despite the absence of grass. (Beware of previous renters who leave junk behind.) There is a propane grill, a large picnic table, and two Adirondack chairs, where we watched the setting sun every evening. All in all, we enjoyed our vacation very much!

Our stay at this cabin was wonderful. The cabin is small, but it's perfect for two people. Cool cabins has a very friendly staff. The cabin was very clean, close to the lake and the village.

The perfect size for a couple and a dog! The backyard was fenced and private with a grill, inside we had cable, internet, central heat and all the dishes and appliances we needed. If you are looking for a lot of space thus is small but was perfect for us. Not a lot if counter space for cooking, bed kind of sagged to one side. Overall we were very satisfied and would rent that cabin again!! Clean and homey! Thx for a great weekend getaway.

This was the perfect cabin for us and our small dog. We loved the spacious fenced in yard, picnic table and grill. Plus, you can't beat the location. Both the village and lake are right there. No problems at all, I highly recommend!

We had a great time here. The cabin is close to the Village, about 1 mile away, and about a block away from Big Bear Blvd. Keep in mind this is more like a studio type layout. There's one big open space for everything, kitchen, living room area and bedroom. The only downside I can think of is the bed mattress was a bit stiff for my preference, other than that everything was great!

Great cabin, clean and new

Beautiful rustic but super clean cabin. Easy check in and out. Dog friendly, huge fenced yard for our pups and they even provided a dog bowl and dog treats for our babies. I was very impressed. Will definitely stay again.
