"Second stay"

5 of 5

This was my second stay with Big Bear Cool Cabins and I plan on repeating my visits in the future! BBCC Staff are professional, kind, and knowledgeable of the area. My stay at the Honeymooner's Hideaway was perfectly relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. Nice outdoor space around cabin and great deck for a BBQ. Cabin was was clean, tidy, and well kept upon arrival. I was impressed they even thought of little details like providing new dish soap, a new sponge, and towel for cleaning up after food prep. I would stay here again without hesitation, Thanks Big Bear Cool Cabins!

"Quiant couples getaway cabin"

4 of 5

My husband and I booked a reservation six months in advance for our 15 year anniversary. Came to find out about two weeks prior to stay that out original cabin was no longer available so we decided on this cabin. I am definitely not upset about the decision. The cabin itself was big enough for the two of us, but actually felt bigger than it was. The downstairs area was nicely set up with comfortable leather couch and rocking chair. There was also a dining room table and kitchenette with just about everything that you would need to cook, eat, clean, etc. I think by far though that the deck was probably the best part as I spent a large amount of my time sitting on the chair watching the animals and listening to the wind in the trees. The overall neighborhood was pretty quiet with the occasional car starting or lawn equipment going in the distance. Overall it was peaceful. I'd have to say that the shower was pretty small. It seems to be better suited for people of a smaller structure as the shower head is low and the overall shower space was just big enough not to bump my elbows on the wall..my husband and I are luckily pretty short/small people. The water pressure is also very strong and water temperature gets hot very quickly. Both can be good, but just be cautious and know that it can scold you. Neither DVD player worked in the cabin and we were a little bummed because we had rented a movie to watch on the first night and we were unable to do so. There is also no WiFi, so we could not stream anything and I was unable to download pictures I had taken over the weekend. I informed the rental agency of the DVD player issue already. The driveway has been mentioned several times as it being "steep". I would not really call the driveway "steep". I would call it not friendly to low profile cars due to the drop from the street pavement to the dirt driveway. Also, the driveway has a tight curve and getting a longer vehicle backed up could be a challenge because of the fence on one side and small drop off on the other with only railroad ties to guide you. I would suggest that if you are going to cook using that flat pans (bacon, eggs, etc) to bring cooking spray or some type of oil. Pans are not now stick and you will spend time scrubbing pans if you are not wise. It does have many of the amenities needed for most kitchen functions though, so plates, silverware, etc do not need to be brought up. Unfortunately I do have to agree about the beds....at least the main one in the room. It was not comfortable and we had a hard time getting sleep. The two beds are also very close to each other, so if you have two couples, it is not private in any way. I would just not recommend more than a couple staying there. Currently there is nothing covering (ie blinds) the upstairs right side bed area window and/or the bathroom main window. It lacked some privacy in those areas. Hopefully that will get fixed quickly. However, with all said and done, I have to admit that I would stay here again. I liked the area and feel of the place and I'm hoping with time some of the issues listed can get resolved. Just remember that these are family owned cabins so respecting them will help the owners try to get things worked out.

Manager Response:

Hi Kristin,
Thank you for your feedback regarding this cabin. We will absolutely looking into the pots/pans and the beds. We want your experience to be as care free as possible. We hope to have these things updated and have you back to Big Bear very soon!

"romantic cozy and private."

everything was exactly what we hoped for except for the horribly uncomfortable beds. The staircase was extremely dangerous

"Rough but adorable"

4 of 5

This is certainly a cabin. And by that I mean it has all the charm of a wooden hideaway in the mountains, but none of the frills of a fancy hotel. The basics are there: a cozy living room with wonderful fire place, a kitchen, a bedroom, and a bathroom. It was perfect for a little getaway for my boyfriend, my dog, and me. The jacuzzi out front was great for star gazing at night and theres a grill on the porch for cooking. The only issue we had was a leak in the bathroom sink. Other than that, we had a great stay at the Honeymooners Hideaway and would definitely look into coming back.
