"Great Place! Clean and Updated"

5 of 5

We took our two kids and my in-laws to Big Bear recently for a weekend and stayed at Snowy Evening Lodge. We all thought it was very clean, and the interior is updated, so it feels comfortable and convenient. You definitely feel like you're in the mountains with the gorgeous view out of the back windows and deck. We had one car, and parking was no problem. There are stairs leading down to the cabin from the parking area, but they weren't too difficult to navigate. The kitchen was clean and had pretty much everything we needed. We should have taken a few plastic containers or ziplock bags for leftovers, and we didn't think about a few small condiments we should have brought along, like ketchup, but other than that, we were able to prepare our food just fine. Vons, Stater Bros, and Dollar Tree are only about a 10 minute drive away. The living room and dining area were comfortable. We could have used one more chair at the dining table, since there were six of us, and only five chairs during our visit, but we made do with a kitchen stool. We were able to watch television with the provided cable box. We brought our own puzzles and games to play, but there was a small collection of these available in the home as well. We were there in summer so we didn't need to make a fire, but the big fireplace felt homey. The bedrooms were comfortable enough. Ideally we'd have liked two stand-alone double/queen beds, since we had two couples, but we knew going in that the options were the double in the master, the double under the bunk bed, and the twin with trundle. My in-laws went old school and slept on the two twin beds, while the kids used the bunk beds. One thing we will remember to bring if we come back is more night lights. There were a couple, but the kids' room was still very dark for them in an unfamiliar place, even with the small night lights provided. No big deal, but something for parents to consider if your kids need more light at night. The bathrooms were clean and served us just fine. The only complaint I have is not the homeowners' fault, but those towels provided by Cool Cabins are really scratchy and thin. Definitely not even up to par with what you get at your average Hampton Inn or La Quinta level hotel. We had read before that there was no hair dryer, so we brought our own along. Little things aside, we had a really nice weekend at Snowy Evening Lodge, and would visit there again. Thanks to the homeowners for such a lovely place

Loved loved loved this cabin. Second year taking a trip with my group of friends to Big Bear and we had a blast. Great views, spacious home and well equipped with entertainment. Close to the village, markets and Big Bear Zoo. Had an amazing trip. Thanks!

"Beautiful property"

5 of 5

This property was perfect for our family's End of the year getaway! Open kitchen and living area concept, spacious master bedroom, and gorgeous views provided everything we were looking for! We cooked many meals at the house and the kitchen is well equipped with dishware, gadgets and tools. The only minor issue was the fact there was no hair dryer, but we later learned we could have called and asked for one. The property management was great! We were not sure if the hot water was turned on and they sent a maintenance worker to check on it right away. The property is close to town, but removed enough to be private and peaceful. We loved it! They also have books and games which helped us entertained the kids during snowy nights.

"Best Cabin EVER!"

5 of 5

It was clean, roomy and had a very warm and homey feel to it from the moment we stepped inside. The kids loved that there was a PS2 with lots of games in one of the bedrooms and my daughter said that the bottom bunk bed was "so super comfortable". There are DVD's, board games, puzzles and books galore which came in handy since we were not lucky enough to have any snow :( The fireplace is gas which is convenient, the deck is large and the view was beautiful. The ONLY thing I would say that I was disappointed about was that there was no hair dryer (which I didn't notice until after I washed my hair). All and all we didn't want to leave and were very happy with our choice of cabins.

"Family trip"

Overall, a great experience. Clean rooms, kitchen and bathroom. Roughly 3 miles or so away from the Village.

Manager Response:

Hi Al,
We're so happy that your trip was a success! We hope you'll return to Big Bear soon and continue to stay with Cool Cabins.
