People always ask us - when is the best time to go to Big Bear? Well, we’re about to spill the beans. Big Bear Lake is one of the most popular places to travel in the So Cal area. It’s a beautiful place to live! Like the saying goes - we live where you vacation. So, without further ado, here's some advice from a local!

The great thing about Big Bear is that it does not get over 89 degrees. Because it doesn’t get that hot in Big Bear, 90% of the homes up here do not have air conditioning. Yes, the bedrooms upstairs get pretty hot, we get it, we live up here. It's science though, heat rises What we do is open up the window and either get a box fan going or stick a window fan in. By the evening, it should get pretty cool.

During Winter time, it definitely gets cold! Luckily all of our cabins are equipped with a heater. Most of our cabins have a fireplace too! Make sure to check if the cabin has a wood burning fireplace before purchasing wood.

Spring and Fall are usually the best time to come and avoid crowds. During these off peak seasons, there are still plenty of events and things to do in Big Bear. Fishing season starts April 1st, you can take a hike, walk the Alpine Pedal Path, go horseback riding and check out the petting Zoo. Winter can also last through April. If you are trying to avoid those switch back roads and driving in the snow, the roads should be clear but there should be some snow patches around! Christmas is an absolute winter wonderland in Big Bear! It’s just a little crazy up here.

Fall is where you see the leaves change and boy is it a beautiful view. Big Bear truly is a 4 season resort. We get pretty flowers in the Spring and crisp orange leaves in the Fall. During Fall, you can enjoy the fall colors in the Aspen Grove, Visit the Big Bear Alpine Zoo, Oktoberfest is a fun event for everyone in your group, enjoy some glow bowling at the Bowling Barn!
