Have you ever seen a Winter Wonderland? If not, you need to visit Big Bear Lake when it starts to snow. ‘When does it snow?’ - you might ask. Well, it could start from anywhere between early as October or as late as December. It’s really difficult to predict until it gets closer, but we can’t predict that for you. If we could, we would be working for the weather station. The only prediction we can give you is - Mother Nature. However, December through April is typically when Big Bear Lake has snow.
Big Bear Cool Cabins would like to tell you a little bit about Winter in Big Bear. There are so many things to do! Here are some of our favorite activities: Snow Tubing, Skiing, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing, and making a snowman/snow angel. You can also go on a Ziplining Tour! Big Bear Lake is one of the best places to ski in California because you not only get one mountain, but two! Snow Summit is better for beginners and children. Bear Mountain Resort is more for the intermediate and those who enjoy hitting jumps and rails/boxes. We also have two places to snow tube - Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain and Big Bear Snow Play.
We have so many cabins walking distance to Bear Mountain: Peek-A-View, A Wonderland, Moonidge, Buffalo Crossing and so much more! Just check out our map view and you can see where the cabins are located. Cabins walking distance to Snow Summit: Tomahawk, Bear Crossing and McWhinney the Pooh’s Den. We have condos walking distance to Snow Summit as well: Summit Getaway Condo, Bear Retreat and Liberty Summit Chalet Townhouse. Ask us about our collaboration with GetBoards! They are offering 1 FREE Ski/Snowboard Rental for each reservation. That includes all the equipment and all the snow gear! They also offer a delivery service.
Did you know that there’s glow tubing at Big Bear Snow Play? No?! That’s awesome though, right? That’s something the whole family can enjoy. However, if your kiddo needs to go to bed by 8 pm then maybe just snow tubing during the day is better! You are in beautiful Big Bear though, do they really need a bedtime? If yes, because you’re one of those awesome parents that has a set schedule, then Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain is the place to go! At Alpine Slide, the whole family can go snow tubing and bobsledding.
If you don’t have human babies, but you got a fur-baby, you should still come up for a family vacation. We have a huge inventory of pet-friendly cabins in Big Bear Lake! Ever seen those videos where there’s a mountain of snow, a dog jumps in and then they disappear? Hilarious, right? Well, book a pet-friendly cabin and you can experience that too! Throw that on Snapchat or Instagram. We’ll also throw in a free Cool Cabins dog bowl and a treat. Some of our favorite pet-friendly cabins close to a ski resort are: Cornerstone Cabin, All Seasons Chateau, The Getaway and Summit Adventure.
Everyone has considered hot tubbing while the snow was falling. Epic view! Checkout our cabins with hot tubs. Some include: Grizzly Bear, Five Pines, Smokey Bear’s Den, Mi Casa es su Casa, and Bear Hug Hideaway.
The best time to experience Winter in Big Bear Lake is during Christmas! Talk about a real Winter Wonderland. Imagine driving up to Big Bear (always check Directions to Big Bear and Road Conditions), you head straight to the mountain for some fun snow activities with your family and/or friends, you check into our office and get a bottle of sparkling cider, you drive through The Village, you roam around the awesome cabin you booked, you settle down and enjoy some hot chocolate by the fireplace. Sounds amazing, right? Well, it is! And you can definitely experience that first hand. Tree lighting at the Big Bear Lake Village is the most exciting tradition. You can witness this massive tree getting lit up with hundreds of lights.
